SMS Notifications

hitAppoint can send out notifications to your customers with SMS text messages. SMS notifications work just the same way as email ones do and can be sent out on almost any action, for example when an appointment is requested, approved, rejected or rescheduled, or when a customer forgets the password. SMS text messages part is developed as a plugin so you can activate it if you need this feature.

Please note that SMS sending feature is provided by third party services that require signup and usually charge per message. Also we have a free option with email to text gateways provided by mobile carriers, although the customers should specify their carrier (supported with a limited set of mobile carriers).

If you need more gateways, or just have some positive experience with some other option, please let us know, we’d love to add more SMS gateways.

To activate SMS notifications, please go to Settings >> Plugins, choose SMS Notifications and click Install. You will be asked to choose your SMS gateway, then enter some configuration details.

After the SMS plugin is installed, you will see a new tab named SMS added to your hitAppoint admin menu. In this area you will be able to adjust your SMS gateway settings, edit templates for text messages sent on various appointment scheduling actions, and view the log journal of your SMS messages.

Configuring Clickatell Account To Get API ID

To enable Clickatell SMS plugin in hitAppoint, you will need to do some configuration in Clickatell control panel to get the API ID. Once you sign up with Clickatell (you will need the Central (API) product), you receive a confirmation message from Clickatell, containing your username, ClientId and password.
