I've not tried BuddyPress yet, but knowing it's a WordPress plugin, I assume that it makes use of WordPress's user management part. If it is true (which is mostly likely), hitAppoint features single sign-on integration with WordPress, i.e. once a user has logged in, she is automatically logged in to use hitApppoint so the answer is yes.
