Hello Algis,
I had one question that looks more practical.
I would like to host my website and hitappoint program on a NAS server.
But I just heard about that technical eventuality?
Do you (or anybody else) have practical knowledges about how to set up such an installation.
I have already a router (live box) but don't know what else I need to start this infrastructure ? I'm a small business.
I heard about QNAP or SYNOLOGY servers ; what is best & what model should match to my needs ?
Do I need php ans MySQL applications & where can I find these. Are they classic programs with setup and install files ?
Thanks for your help.

Hello Stephane,
I'm afraid I'm not able to help on servers technical setup. What I'm sure about is that any inexpensive shared web hosting plan will work for you smoothly, everyone now includes PHP & MySQL, it's a standard thing nowdays.

Hello Algis,
Because of sensitive information (client personal information) I don't want host the data base externally.
So I progressed into my research : (for info purpose in this topic)
I heard about SYNOLOGY. That company offers home NAS servers like the 209+II model inwich you can install 2 RAID SATA II storage hard disks offering up to 2 Tbytes data storage capacity.
This server is natively implemented with php/MySQL apache abilities.
It also acts as a web server.
So the only thing needed beyond that is a router (but that's ok).

Stephane,
You can setup your own webserver on a local linux box but unless you know security on linux you are at more risk than simply using a hosting service.
I setup web sites and web hosting for small to mid size companies, you simply treat your site as a commercial site with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and use PCI Compliance Certification.
PCI is a standard that merchant credit card services want you site to achieve to take credit cards online.
It is going to be a lot more secure using a hoster with these features than setting up a box internally onsite unless you want to become a security expert as well. You will have to pay more the SSL and PCI.
